HURLEY KINGS AWARDED £50,000 FROM SPORTS ENGLAND

In December 2013 the Club applied for a £64,000 grant from Inspired Facilities to purchase changing rooms for Daw Mill.

The application was supported by North Warwickshire Borough Council (NWBC) and the FA.

Hurley Kings Football Club is among 324 local sports projects to secure a share of £17 million of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.

Since 2011, Inspired Facilities has been helping breathe new life into tired community sports facilities and converting existing buildings into venues suitable for grassroots sport.

Hurley Kings will receive £50,000 of National Lottery funding to install changing facilities at their home ground, Daw Mill, which has helped thousands of local young people get into sport since it opened its doors in the 1980's. The Club,  which is also in the process of obtaining the FA's Development Status runs teams for children from the age of 5 through to 18. The new changing facilities will include toilets, a kitchenette and social area for those visiting the site.

Sport England Property Director, Charles Johnston, said: “The Inspired Facilities Fund has had a huge impact on grassroots sport across the country. Since 2011, we’ve invested £88 million into more than 1,600 projects to improve and refurbish sports clubs and transform non-sporting venues into vibrant community sports clubs.

“It’s great to see Hurley Kings Football Club  join the long list of successful clubs to benefit from this fund.”

Club Secretary, Ian Brookes, said: “We are delighted to have secured this investment, which enables us to implement Phase One of the development of our home ground. The new changing rooms means  we can upgrade the services provided at Daw Mill to match the standard of commitment and quality of our football coaches and  volunteers. It is the cornerstone of our strategy to have an outstanding facility that  will benefit the  whole community. Our Committee has  worked tirelessly over recent  years to build up a professional organisation so this is a fitting reward to all those connected to the Club. North Warwickshire Borough Council  and Birmingham County Football Association have also worked hard on our behalf and we would like to thank them, our sponsors and of course Sports England for helping to deliver this project."
